Another week another win for the Chiefs. First time in the Mahomes Era that we have started 7-0
Mahomes looked a lot more like Mahomes much of that game. There was a pick but that was just a d lineman making a play batting a ball that went to the wrong place. But other than that the offense has really been moving the ball a lot more than they were at the start of the season. And Mahomes is making plays with his legs when it's not there. Hopefully with a full week of Hopkins in practice he won't have to do that as much. Don't need to add another injury to the already long list.
Much like Mahomes Kelce is starting to look a lot like Kelce. His best game of the season. Of course it comes on his favorite day of the year national tight end day. It was good to see him get a td shocking that it was his first of the season. We can only hope that this is going to keep up. The addition of Hopkins could help open things up for him.
Xavier Worthy had a bit of a rookie day today. Had a couple of bad drops. But he was able to make up for it with a touchdown. You have to expect that this is going to happen from time to time. He is a rookie that is being forced to have a bit of a bigger role than what they had planned with all the injuries. Nothing to much to be worried about at the moment. But needs to be better catching the ball. The last thing that this team needs is another Skyy Moore.
Hopkins with less than a week of practice was able to chip in a little bit. He had a couple of catches that extended drives. It can only be exciting to think about what he can bring to the team in a position that we really need the help. I am very excited to see what he can do next week.
I think it's time to be a little worried about the LT spot on the oline. penalties giving up sacks both are really hurting the offense. You can understand it to a point we have faced a number of really good defenses. But that area has to be better. Mahomes just can't keep getting hit like he has been and he got hit on his foot today. Maybe a spot they could look to upgrade through a trade if possible. But it needs work for sure.
Defense what can you say another week of the Chiefs defense. Gave up 2 tds one on the opening drive one late in the game to make the game closer at the end. Besides that they didn't give up much and they came up HUGE with a goal line stand on 4th down that gave the Raiders 0 points. It could have been a different game if that Raiders took those points. Not a lot of defenses are going to come up with that stop. Then they got the fumble in the 4th as well. That is what you call a championship defense and it shows.
This was one of those games that the Chiefs in many ways let a team hang around with mistakes. Drops, Penalties, ect but once again the Chiefs found a way not to let those little thing come back to bite them in the end. There's something called a championship DNA. And that I think is what we see with the Chiefs in winning the amount of games like this one that they have over the years. We can expect another tough one next Monday night. Tampa is a solid team but they like the Chiefs are dealing with a lot of WR injuries. The Chiefs might just be catching a team at the right team. It's up to them to take advantage. GO CHIEFS
